Plotting – Nars x Nayet (art)

nars_nayet_gossip_smol.png

Spent  few hours here and there throughout August working on this.  I wanted to focus more on color palettes and using overlay layers as well as my usual lighting and shading ideas.  Tried some new things with the mountains that worked out satisfactorily, and spent more time on the rocks in the foreground that I am happy enough with 🙂

Nars is my character, Nayet belongs to Kragekongen over on DeviantArt!

Preparing for Audition~

In other news, art has slowed significantly while I am spending much of my time preparing excerpts and a selection of a concerto for an orchestra audition I was offered last week.

The audition occurs this Saturday, so most of my focus has been on that, and resting in between practice blocks 🙂

WIP sketch – Harley

Working on a new pic… planning to take my time with it and really work on lighting and the landscape.  Finished the initial sketch:

The character is my own, his name is Harley (birth name was Hans).  He’s a character I created for an online ARPG (art roleplaying – where characters interact via written essays and art created between 2 or more people and their characters).

Harley has never felt very “at home” since he lost his sister to hunters.  Abandoned by their parents when the pack fled, Harley (then, Hans) and his sister were left to die or make it on their own.  Once Hans’ sister was captured and taken while he went to search for help, he continued on his way alone for the next several years of his life.  Harley renamed himself with the encouragement of a friend who he grew very close to in the second pack he stayed with during his second spring and summer.  But he kept his wishes to himself, as she was courted by another male who Harley knew she appreciated very much.  Harley has kept his new name in order to try and lessen the past memories and guilt he continues to carry with him in his prime.  He left the pack and has roamed ever since, settling with different families to try and find his new home.

Process Collage

I spent a little over 5 hours working on this illustration, today:

While working on it, I took a handful of screenshots as I worked.  Below is a collage of the process in order!

The characters featured are my Nars (black wolf) and Alistair (another ARPG member’s character).

Here is a link to the process video over on youtube!

I’d like to start uploading short videos of talking through design ideas and coming up with shapes and features that enhance a character’s appearance.  Still have lots of improvement in my art to get to first, bit it’s a plan I’ve had for years!

Thanks for looking!

Pensive – OC art

lyall_thoughtful.png

Spent the morning working on landscape painting, and making an image depicting my character, Lyall, in a reflective and thoughtful state.

Lyall is a character of mine in an art-roleplay-game (ARPG), and his mother is another character of mine named Abina, who I am sure will make an appearance on here soon!  Lyall is only 5 months old, and has been growing apart from his siblings – he is very curious and wants to learn instead of playing.

“Eskya” model no.1

Today here are some images of art and design work for a series of childrens’ books I’m working on 🙂

First ref for Eskya (I’ll add a poses sheet, working with angles and more difficult to draw poses for her to refer back to). Uts not perfect angles anglesndfter puting it all together, I can see anglesndfterdditional proportions that need to be fixed, but it will function for me for now!

Spent several hours today sketching up shapes and color ideas for her.  She’s a secondary main character in a series of childrens’ stories I’m working on.

Needed to sketch the facial directions and then come back after a few hours to “redline” over places where proportions were way off.

After, of course, looking at tons of photos of Alaskan huskies and other common sledding breeds, and making quick sketch notes!

There will be 6 original team members total, plus the addition of the main character. I’ll probably start working on “Blue” next (the colored profile up there is his!)

Character sketch

Working on designing a character for someone – they’re still writing the bio, and the guy doesn’t have a name yet! So far all I know is he will have scarring, probably is not the nicest aaaand he happens to be involved with a character of mine 🙂

I love the idea of a small white tip at the end of the customary black.

5/11/17

Hello and welcome!  Thank you for coming to check out the blog 🙂

00

I’m Koey – a cello performance major, writer and self-taught visual artist.  I currently am working on a web novel that I hope to begin releasing by chapter in the coming months (Summer will be a big time for my project!).  I am also slowly working my way through arranging covers of pop and Disney music for cello chamber groups to record.

00

Along with music and illustration+writing projects, I hope to share other creative ideas through this blog, including handcrafting products such as from-scratch lye soaps, skincare and haircare.

00

I would also love to be able to discuss/explore character designing and writing/development concepts.  Aside from drawing characters and uploading snippets of interaction, I would like to dedicate blog posts entirely to devising character developments, dynamics and more.  I don’t have a great platform for my writing just yet and so I hope that this blog will serve as my main writing and exploratory concepts.

Hopefully you’ll find a theme or two we have in common 🙂  Come say hi!  Maybe even discuss some character ideas or music loves.
